UP Remains the Top University in the Philippines based on QS world ranking

The QS World University Rankings® releases the top universities in the world. It uses the following indicators in the methodology to rank the world’s best universities:

  • 40% for Academic peer review
  • 20% for Faculty/Student ratio
  • 20% for Citations per faculty
  • 10% for Employer reputation
  • 5% for International student ratio
  • 5% for International staff ratio

The QS World University Rankings® or Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) publishes yearly the university rankings. While it is considered as the most viewed source for university ranking in the world, major criticisms on its subjective factors or indicators used as methodologies cannot be set aside. They remain as a subject for most debates and professional perspectives or analyses.

This 2017 ranking of world universities by QS reflects UP (University of the Philippines) as still the Philippines’ top university at 367th from the 374th rank last year and at bracket 401st–410th rank in 2016 by QS World University Rankings® results.

There are only three (3) Philippine universities made it to the QS World University Rankings® best 1,000 universities in the world!

Ateneo de Manila University submerged at bracket 551st–600th rank this year from rank bracket 501–550 in two previous years results.

Meanwhile, De La Salle University grappled at rank bracket 701–750 this year while at 701st+ rank in the two previous years.

University of Santo Tomas (UST) collapsed at rank bracket 801–1000 this 2017 QS’ world university ranking results from rank bracket 701 both in two previous years.
